Notice of The Byabarra Closure Sunday 2 July 2017 to Wednesday 12 July 2017 due to Comboyne Road Closure and Hyndmans Creek Bridge Replacement
Hyndmans Creek Bridge Replacement
Hyndmans Creek Bridge substructure works are nearing completion, with the next phase of the project being demolition of the existing timber bridge to enable installation of the new concrete girders and completion of the new bridge.
Comboyne Road will be closed to all public traffic commencing Sunday 2 July for 10 calendar days to enable completion of the new bridge. As a result, The Byabarra will also be closed during this time.
The 10 day shutdown period will allow for demolition of the existing timber bridge, as well as installation of new concrete girders, completion of road approach works on either side of the bridge, guard rail installation and placement of a new asphalt wearing surface.
During the shutdown of Comboyne Road, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has advised the following detours will be in place:
- Bagnoo Road – rigid vehicles, less than 8m in length and light vehicles towing trailers.
- Lorne Road – all heavy articulated vehicles and heavy vehicles greater than 8m in length.
Please note, both Bagnoo Road and Lorne Road are not sealed roads.
Due to the detours being on unsealed roads and wet weather still being forecasted during the closure of Comboyne Road, we feel it best to close The Byabarra during this time.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but feel it’s the right thing to do until Comboyne Road is reopened to the public. Our decisions is not made lightly, and it’s especially disappointing because the road closure is during the school holidays, right when there are so many visitors to the area. But we feel it is the best option, not only for the safety of our staff travelling on these alternative routes in wet weather as well as late at night, but also for the safety of our patrons and visitors to the area during this time.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The Byabarra from 8am on Thursday 13 July 2017.
Please refer to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for further information about the road closure.
